EXPO

  oppression
Without this type of oppression, people would feel relaxed.  For example, all cultures could be friends.  It doesn’t matter the race or how they look.  When free from violence, people will be happy to be themselves.  Individuals will experience laughing more, trying new things and learning new things about themselves.  Individuals would be able to express their feelings to their partner or other people.  People will experience joy by walking wherever they want. Another example is walking in the park or streets .

Action Plan
Individuals can liberate themselves by talking to the right person. If you are kids, talk to a teacher or a counselor for teenagers. But if you are an adult of any gender, you can call the center for Domestic Violence or call the cops.  One step you can take to liberate himself or herself is to talk to a teacher.

      Liberation
Without this type of oppression people would feel relaxed. When free from this from of oppression people will be happy to be themselves. Individuals will  experience laughing more ,trying new things and  leaving new things  and learning things about themselves . Individuals would be able to express their feelings to their partner or other people. People will experience  joy by walking wherever they want.

my college

My name is Ariana Robles . Words that can describe my family are  togetherness funny adventures to be strong . my is a to get the be happy have a good time with relative . my mother plays big  part she tells me that follow my dreams. The part of teenagers , or kids . the kids play games unlit the imagination runs wild, but for the teenagers cars, shoes, music, even clothing and, phones or friends at school. Words i can best describes my community
mix cultures, mix  of luagghes , happies ,with all types of  violence ,also gangs ,and drugs. The gangs play a big part because no one could wear red or blue those color they play a big on to big in Oakland CA. Most people in the community it the type of people that who to make money kids or wifes takeng their kids to school. They to the precf t angel they get kids who love school but hate they would being in the strees or bang . But the best things about my community are that you get meet new people not afair of being them self  .One opportunity in my community is that I get to volunteer in a general hospital.  I am volunteering in Highland Hospital. I am working there because one day I want to be a nurse or a doctor.
One major issue that confronts my school and my community is gang violence.  Gang Violence causes people to be afraid of walking on the streets at night or even during the day.  You go to sleep hearing the ambulance and the police sirens.  I want to change it and try to make the schools better.  Also, a lot of teenagers in Oakland get pregnant by the time they are fifteen or sixteen.  If I was a nurse, I would try to help people by teaching sex education classes.  This helps my community by letting girls be powerful, be successful and to change their minds that they are not housewives and that they are something else.
To me, college means that I can realize my dreams of being whatever I want to be in the world.  It can open a door to new opportunities.  I want to go to college so that I can have a better job and not do extreme work that I cannot do.  It is difficult to go to college because you have to pay and you are on your own.  You do not have your parents there.  You have to take care of yourself and there is not someone there to tell you right or wrong.
If I go to college, this would make my parents proud of me because they kept me out of the streets and they took care of me.  They cared what I was interested in.  They want the best for their family because they lived in Mexico and they did not even get to go to high school.  I will show them I can do something better with my life.

FREEDOM

Ariana Robles

Freedom

As a young woman in the streets of Oakland,
Most don’t finish high school because they are pregnant
Or they drop out of school.
They feel they are not successful.
They are powerless.
They feel they are not in charge of their own lives
And that the guy is powerful
And that he is their whole world.
I hear that girls do not go to college because
They don’t have the funds.
But I am going to try to get other options.
I will work hard.
My freedom is still here.
In a perfect world,
Freedom is there in your hands.
Sometimes it’s scary.

What Mask Do I Wear?

The mask I wear.

I wear this mask because I don't want to get hurt.  There are kids that think they know you, but they don't know anything about me.

I wear a mask because I don't want them to see my weak by crying or getting mad.

Sometimes I feel like they take advantage of me because I am so nice.  They don't know me, or what I like.  I wish they knew that I am a fun person to be around and be random like always.

They don't know that I am strong.  They don't see that I have hopes and dreams.

My School

I am a girl that was born and raised in Oakland.  Everybody else thinks that Oakland is bad, just all gangs and violence, but it is not true.  It does have its good things like cultures coming together, baseball and football teams, and the best restaurants.  I go to school at Urban Promise Academy.  Some of you may have seen it on The Today Show last year.  Other schools think they are better because they have computers, laptops, tutors, and anything they want. What they do not have is the fact that every student at UPA knows each other.  Now that my school was given laptops, we will show you projects we do at Urban Promise Academy.
